This year has brought changes for our family. We changed churches. We started homeschooling. These were huge changes for our family. We were very involved in our church and school (our boys went to a private church school), and we still love the people there dearly. We made a hard but deliberate choice to do what we knew God was leading us to do. And at first it seemed that we were just saying, "No!" to everything familiar and to people we love and respect.
But... it has been good. God knew all along it would be good for us. Because He knows what we need as individual families.
We have learned in a very real way that "No is really a way to make room for yes."
We are making new friends and broadening our circles of aquaintance. We are learning so much about our children as individuals as we teach them and it is equipping us to make better educational choices for each of them. We have more time and flexibility to do things together as a family. We feel less stressed in this time of year when Keith is very busy at work and working long hours. (A less stressed mother is more likely to say, "Yes!" to activities children want to do :)
If you feel God nudging you to make a change or to do something new but it looks overwhelming, trust Him, take the leap of faith, He is a good, loving, faithful Father. If you are following Him it will be good!
