I'm Sleeping on a Board! - Day 3

Seriously I've never been on a bed this hard! There is no give. To say this trip is an adventure is an understatement. Let me go back to yesterday since I missed telling you about that
.
Yesterday morning we went back to the Shanghai CWI. We met some older children who are in foster care. They were amazing! They were so fun to interact with! We took pictures of them then printed them out and asked (OK not asked, signed, demonstrated, and pointed!) for them to look at the picture and draw self-portraits. Chelsea is so great with this kind of activity and drew her self-portrait as well!

In the afternoon we had a little more opportunity to visit a few of the rooms, including the room where Eliana was before she came home. We also met some little ones who have families waiting to bring them home. I can't wait to send their waiting families all of the pictures we have of them!

Last night for dinner we had a banquet with the Shanghai CWI director and various other officials involved in adoption. We were able to show them the video we made of before and after pictures of children adopted from Shanghai.

This morning we left our hotel a little before 6 and caught a Flight to Nanchang, Jianxi then drove to Yingtan. We met a bunch of sweet kiddos there too! There was this 10-year-old boy who seemed to take care of a lot of the little ones. He was so funny! He obviously enjoyed interacting with us and we certainly enjoyed him!

By then it was late afternoon and we still had a couple of hours of driving ahead of us. So we climbed back in the van and I went to sleep! I unfortunately did not see the countryside between here and there.

I knew we were supposed to have dinner after arriving and it was the last thing I felt like doing! But then we went into a little local place where the various options were displayed in their uncooked form. After a few people giving selections and one person ordering for the group, we were escorted to a table and waited for the food to arrive. It was amazing how quickly everything was brought! The food was super good, though quite spicy. One funny thing was that we were just drinking out of the water bottles, so when the lady we are traveling with proposed a toast we had to quickly fill our glasses with water before lifting them.

I must say we are eating very well. When we adopted Eliana we did not enjoy the food that much, but I guess we just didn't know what to order, because I have had wonderful dish after wonderful dish this trip!

I really have to go to sleep. Tomorrow is another big day of meeting kiddos and traveling to the next city. Keep praying for all of us! This is exhausting. Nothing can quite prepare you for seeing child after precious child who really needs a family!

The pictures are from Shanghai. I didn't look through the Jiangxi pictures yet. Maybe tomorrow!

  3. Will you be going to Fuzhou, Jiangxi? I would love to have someone communicate with my new son's foster mama. I have a name and photo of her. Even if you could just show her a photo of us with him, that would be wonderful.
