Over the last several weeks quite a few of the children I met in China have been matched with their families. There is so much rejoicing when this happens! The Superkids team all message each other and rejoice together. One of "our" children is coming home! While we rejoice over every child, there is something extra special about the older children who are matched!
Penny is one of these extra special girls. She begged us to find her a family. Through the interpreter I told her that we will do our best to find her one. Her response was, "What time will they come?" And I was thinking, "Oh, dear God, please help us find a family for her!" This week a family submitted their LOI (letter of intent) to adopt Penny. How I wish I could see her face when she is told!
Then there is Steven. There are always fewer families looking to adopt boys, especially older boys. But Steven also wanted a family. In his words, "If I have the opportunity to be adopted, I will be very happy and very much want to go to the new family.”
Well, sweet boy, your time has come! Your family is on their way!
Then there are the little girls. Precious Adelyn, Jing Jing, and Cai Cai. I played with and held each of these little beauties. To think of the joy they will bring to a family is so exciting! And to think of each of them being a treasured daughter instead of an orphan is just so amazing!
