14 Years & Counting...

Fourteen years ago today, in the sweltering heat of an exceptionally hot July in Texas, Keith and I exchanged vows promising to be faithful to one another for life.

Fourteen years and five children later...
One blessed family!

There is no way at that moment that I could even begin to see what was in store for us.   We have shared so many intense moments, either too joyous or too painful to express in words.

We have had that wonderful, magical moment of meeting each of our five children for the first time.

We have lived through the ups and downs of having premature babies, one of which needed to be in the NICU for over 2 months. Then the agonizing reality of a baby boy who just stopped breathing every few minutes and thinking that after 9 weeks in the NICU and only 36 hours at home our baby was not going to live.  Thankfully he did!

We have gone through two totally different adoption processes.  We have traveled thousands of miles and spent over 2 months, all together, staying in  foreign countries in order to bring home the two most amazing daughters any one could dream of having.

We have been through the sudden death of Keith's father due to a farm accident.  And the following five months when we lived with his mother until she was able to face life on her own.

It feels like there has been a lot of drama in some ways, but in between there has been the quiet every day life.  Happy quiet times of just living and enjoying life.

And through it all, the ordinary as well as the dramatic, we have had each other.  It never ceases to amaze me that God can bring two very different people together and make them one in heart.  It has been a wonderful fourteen years and I can't wait to see what is in store for us this year!

  2. Happy Anniversary! Many more blessings upon the Martin family!

I find it funny that we'll have more children than number of years married, thus far! God has such a sense of humor, doesn't He?
